We live in exciting times, says Wijffels (Permanent Representative for the Netherlands at the Worldbank) in his office in Washington. He is not happy with the financial crisis. People are losing their jobs, their homes and their savings. “But you won’t hear me say: ‘This is a great misfortune’.” Wijffels believes the crisis was unavoidable. At the same time, this crisis can clear the way for what he labels nothing less than a ‘new phase in human culture’. “I very much look forward to that.” (Trouw, October 2008)
The Kite Foundation aims to contribute to a renewed global consciousness and a renewed global awareness on man and his surroundings. A consciousness that is built upon the realisation that consciousness itself is the ground of all being, and all objects of our experiences (of sensing, thinking, feeling, and intuition) are possibilities for consciousness to choose from.
The Kite Foundation joins the global current of initiatives that all, in one way
or another, participate in and shape a new understanding of ourselves and our world.

One of the main activities of the Kite Foundation is the production of the documentary ‘The Eye of the Hurricane’. ‘The Eye of the Hurricane’ deals with matters of life and death and tells a story of deducing, doubting, dreaming, dying and endurance. A roller coaster quest for the heavens, freely associating, bringing on board the stunning experiences of frontier scientists in neurobiology, cardiologists, psychology and quantum physics and holding these against the centuries old teachings of mystics and religious scholars. All is one.
This virtual space will act as a platform to all interested in the making of the documentary. A making that will start through both thorough research as well as through deep introspection. Both will be shared on this space.
This space is, for the moment, not more than a cover sheet stating The Kite’s intentions. It will grow and expand over the coming weeks and will include a vast array of interactive possibilities and it will provide for linking opportunities to like minded initiatives all over the world.
